Whether you are new to photography, or have years of experience, explore new dimensions in photography, and take your work to the next level, by joining our experienced instructors for one of our entertaining and informative workshops.

As a photographer, you know the challenges of translating your vision into a beautiful print. While we may difficulty describing why a masterpiece from Ansel Adams, Art Wolfe or Edward Burtynsky stands apart from everyday snapshots, we all recognize that there is a profound difference! Photography is much more than a simple record - as any art form, it has its technical side, as well as a need for a creative eye.

Jaan Peets has been pursuing color landscape photography for decades, primarily working with medium and large format film cameras. This approach allows him to translate his images into dramatic fine art prints that capture the space and light of the Canadian landscape. His work is inspired primarily by the dramatic and wild Lake Superior region. Jaan is 2009 Artist–in-Residence at Pukaskwa National Park. (web site: www.peetsphoto.ca)

Workshop Topics

These workshops are geared toward developing your photographic vision, and nurturing creativity. The instructors have a wide range of interests and expertise, and have an informative and entertaining teaching style. We guarantee that you will learn a lot, while having fun! Our courses are geared to all levels of experience, and most require no specialized equipment. Currently the courses offered are:

  • A Creative Image workshop on developing a photographer’s eye for subject matter, composition, and lighting, across disciplines.
  • A Landscape workshop. This will be offered at multiple locations in or near the GTA, such as the Oak Ridges Moraine, Niagara Escarpment and other scenic venues, chosen to inspire the creative photographer in you. The focus is on key concepts such as composition, quality of light, subject matter and expression (half or full day).

A typical full day workshop will have about 2 hours of classroom time, including a seminar, followed by a shooting session. At the end of the shoot, we will review the day’s work. We offer discounted professional large format printing and archival framing of any of our participants’ images.
